In the Desert, concept for a Illustrated Book

The desert of outback Western Australia and the vast landscapes influence the illustration’s look and feel. I have experienced the desert on StormCo or camping trips up north. My love for retro video game landscapes inspired the patchwork sands and low-poly flora. Each planned inside page illustration takes on the look and feel of diverse art movements, the soft-shading Sfumato, the fun shapes of Cubism (not complete), and studies of light with Impressionism. I tell the story of a teenager that struggles with anxiety, her surreal journey in the desert is a reflection on how she copes with it and finds relief through art.
